- Children 2 years to Kindergarten entry shall be accepted.
- Children under 2 years of age shall not be accepted. However, chronological age is not an absolute criteria, as many children are still not ready to leave their parents even at the age of three (3). This will be determined at the initial interview and in the child's first month of day care.
- A child who is physically or neurologically handicapped shall be accepted unless it is determined that: (a) there will be an adverse effect upon other children (through direct behavior of the child or through staff time needed by other children); and/or (b) The school is unable to meet the needs of the child.
- We reserve the right not to admit a child who exhibits social or emotional problems when: (a) There will be an adverse effect upon other children (through direct behavior of the child or through staff time needed by other children); and/or (b) The school is unable to meet the needs of the child. This will be determined at the initial interview and in the child's first month of day care.
- Children need not be toilet-trained in the 2-year-old class only.
Health and Safety
- Your child's health is a matter of major importance to all of us. Each family shall have forms completed as required by the State of California Social Service Department.
- All children must be immunized before entering for Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Polio, Measles, Mumps, HIB Meningitis, Chicken Pox, and Hepatitis B. All children must be tested for TB.
- Morning Inspection: Each child must be observed by a staff member who knows the child and has had instruction as to early signs of illness and screening procedures. The health and safety of the children at Valley Preschool is the primary priority. The Director will inform staff of children's medical or health concerns as appropriate (such as allergies). Staff members wear protective gloves when changing diapers, toileting, or assisting an ill or injured child.
- Your child may be sent home if he appears to have symptoms of illness during the day. In such cases, he is immediately isolated from the other children and a parent is contacted.
